In the construction and surface prep industry, there are various situations where an electrician is called to provide the proper power for certain pieces of equipment, such as a shot blaster, grinder, or scarifier, for example. Not having all the applicable information organized can delay the process; which in turn, delays when you can begin your job. Every bit of time wasted is taking money out of your business and your pocket.
Secondly, a lot of people aren’t always sure of exactly what information is needed for the electrician.
In efforts to help make this easier, our engineers have put together an Equipment Electrical Specification Sheet (see bottom of page) that you can download or print off. This sheet will help answer most, if not all, of the basic questions the electrician will ask about the piece of equipment you will be using, and organize it in an easy to read format. There are 4 sections to this document:
This section refers specifically to the power requirements for the machine you’ll be using. In addition to the Model and Manufacturer you’ll need to figure out the Voltage, Current, Phase, and Power Factor of the machine. You should be able to find this information on the machine nameplate.
This section will help you to figure out the limits of the connector. (If you're unsure of where to find this information, click HERE)
You’ll only need to fill in the 3rd section if your machine is equipped to power other pieces of equipment. The electrician will need to know the specifications of the output connector. (If you're unsure of where to find this information, click HERE)
This section offers two web page links of resources available on our website, to help fill out the first three sections. Or you can click on the resource titles below to open them in a new tab or window.
Additionally, you’ll find a chart of NEMA Receptacles & Plugs (reference for Sections 2&3)
